Chapter 5
Chaos As Prelude to Personal Metamorphosis

This world, after all our science and sciences, is still a miracle; wonderful, inscrutable, magical and more, to whosoever will think of it.
—Thomas Carlyle
Exercise: Using Knowledge of Chaos as a Compass

  1. Project yourself twelve years back to a time of chaos in your life. Where were you? With whom? Doing what? What happened? How did you feel? What did you learn?

  2. How has that chaotic time in your past set a tone or pattern for your today? What have you learned from the process of chaos that you may apply creatively to your life today?

  3. What chaos are you experiencing in the present? What do you desire to accomplish tomorrow? How may what you think, feel and do in response to the chaos of today set a positive tone for your tomorrow?

  4. What chaos do you anticipate coming in the future? What have you learned from chaotic times of the past and present that you may use as a compass to guide you in the future?
